01Your Tesla at home

A Tesla charger at your place: your space, not the queue

Every Tesla in Europe shares the same home connector, Type 2. That leaves the choice genuinely open: the manufacturer's own unit, or the wallbox that suits your house and your roof better. Both charge the car equally well.

Think about an ordinary week here. The supermarket, the golf club, the airport run for visitors, the drive back from dinner in the old town — all of it ends in the same place: your own parking space. If that space has a charging point, the car refills overnight on the cheapest electricity of the day and you stop planning around chargers altogether. Superchargers go back to what they are designed for: the long drive north.

Our part is the whole process: we choose the unit with you, run the dedicated circuit with its protective devices to ITC-BT-52, test it on your own car and close with the electrical installation certificate registered with the regional authority. If your case needs anything notifying to the distribution company — i-DE across most of the province — that is ours to deal with too.

Compatible

Any Tesla, the same socket

Model 3, Y, S and X all charge in AC through Type 2; CCS2 is for DC rapid charging on the road. What changes between versions is the power the car accepts, never the plug.

Routine solved

Full every morning

Plug in when you park and the schedule does the rest: 100 % by morning at night-time prices. No queues, no apps from three different operators, no hoping the post works.

We install EV charging points across the whole province of Alicante for any make; this page is about what matters specifically to Tesla drivers.

02Which unit

Tesla Wall Connector or a solar wallbox: your call

You already have the car; the decision left is what goes on the wall. These are the two routes we install, with what each does best. At the survey we compare them against your own situation.

Tesla Wall ConnectorThe official one

All inside the Tesla app

The manufacturer's own unit: tethered Type 2 cable, 7.4 kW on single-phase and up to 22 kW on three-phase, wi-fi and an IP55 rating for indoors or out. You control it from the same app as the car and it trims its power to stay inside your contracted limit. The tidiest option for anyone who wants one ecosystem.

V2C or WallboxThe roof's ally

Built around solar surplus

Where there are panels — or plans for them — a wallbox with surplus management usually earns its place: it reads the inverter in real time and charges your Tesla on the midday sun the house is not using, which the official unit does not match. It is Type 2 as well, so it charges the car with no compromise at all.

Type 2No adapters

The standard you already carry

Your European Tesla has Type 2 for AC charging at home and CCS2 for rapid charging on the road. Nothing else is needed in your garage: a Type 2 point in mode 3 covers this car and the next one.

No commissionsClean advice

We recommend what fits

Tesla does not pay us, and neither does any other manufacturer. The recommendation comes out of three facts: your car, your parking space and your roof. Nothing else.

03Power and times

How long a Tesla takes to charge at home by version

The pace comes from the car's own electronics, not from the box on the wall. These are the indicative times for a full charge at home; in a single-phase Spanish property, the highlighted row is yours.

Your TeslaSupplyBattery 0 to 100 %Range per hour
Model 3 / Y · RWDThe usual case Single-phase 7.4 kW ~8–10 h ≈ 48 km/h
Model 3 / Y · Long Range or Performance Three-phase 11 kW ~5–6 h ≈ 80 km/h
Model S / X Three-phase 11 kW ~6–8 h ≈ 75 km/h

Approximate figures: battery temperature and your contracted power also play a part. One rule that saves money — contracting more power than your Tesla can accept charges it no faster; you simply pay for capacity the car never uses.

04Sun, summer and the app

Your Tesla under the Costa Blanca sun: surplus and small hours

Close to 3,000 hours of sunshine a year work in your favour if the wallbox knows what to do with them: with surplus management, midday hands the car free kilometres. And in summer, the Tesla app becomes the useful tool.

Warm nights do not change the fact that the small hours are the best time to charge: they coincide with the off-peak window of the Spanish tariff, the cheapest electricity of the day, and they avoid adding heat to the battery during the worst hours. It is set once in the Tesla app and then forgotten.

The summer habit experienced owners share: precondition the cabin while the car is still plugged in. The air conditioning then draws from the grid rather than the battery, so you set off cool with the range intact — worth knowing in August on this coast.

Sited out of direct sun
~3,000 h

Of sunshine a year: surplus mode charges your Tesla at close to zero cost at midday.

00–08 h

The off-peak window of the 2.0TD tariff: schedule charging there from the app and pay the day's cheapest rate.

Tesla app

Charge scheduling and cabin preconditioning while plugged in: comfort without spending range.

IP55

The Wall Connector handles indoors and out; on the coast we still shelter it and use salt-tolerant fixings.

06Communal garage

Does your Tesla sleep in a shared garage?

You do not need the community's permission — only to notify it. Spanish law treats a charging point in your own space as a right: prior written notice, no AGM, no vote. We write that letter for you, which spares you a conversation in a second language.

The line reaches your space with the consumption metered in your name, so what your Tesla draws never touches the community meter. The full legal position — Article 17.5 and the 2025 Supreme Court ruling — is set out on the main page.

Does my Tesla need a charger made by Tesla?

No. Every Tesla sold in Europe charges at home through the Type 2 connector, the European standard, so any certified Type 2 wallbox will charge your Model 3, Y, S or X exactly as the official unit does. Choosing between a Wall Connector and a V2C or Wallbox is about features — mainly how well each one handles solar surplus and which app you prefer — never about compatibility.

Official Wall Connector or another brand: which suits me better?

The Wall Connector wins if you want to stay inside the Tesla ecosystem: it is controlled from the same app as the car, has a tethered Type 2 cable and looks the part. A V2C or Wallbox usually wins where there are solar panels, because its surplus mode squeezes more out of a Costa Blanca midday. We install both, and at the survey we compare them on your actual roof and your actual parking space.

What charging speed will my Tesla get at home in Spain?

It is set by the car's onboard charger, not by the box on the wall. A rear-wheel-drive Model 3 or Model Y takes 7.4 kW on the single-phase supply that almost every Spanish home has, so a full night in the garage brings it to 100 %. Long Range and Performance versions, and the Model S and X, accept 11 kW if your property has three-phase. Installing more power than your Tesla can take simply costs more without charging any faster.

Can I charge the Tesla from my solar panels?

With close to 3,000 hours of sunshine a year on this coast, that pairing is half the argument for a wallbox in the first place. A surplus-aware unit watches what the inverter is about to send back to the grid and sends it to the car instead, so midday light ends up in the battery for almost nothing. If the panels are still on the to-do list, we leave the function dormant and ready. The full picture is in the solar section of the main page.

The Tesla sits at a holiday home for months. How do I manage it remotely?

This is one of the most common jobs on this coast. With a wi-fi connected unit you supervise and schedule charging from anywhere through the app, and the Tesla app itself shows you the state of the car. You land in August, drive from the airport on whatever the battery has left, and the charger is waiting — after a winter with the shutters closed. On front-line properties we use materials specified for salt air.

Does this replace the Supercharger network?

They do different jobs. Superchargers are DC rapid charging built for the long drive — including the run back north through France. Everyday distances here, the school, the beach, the supermarket, are covered by charging overnight in your own space, far more cheaply and without a detour. Most owners end up using a Supercharger only when they leave the province.

Is there anything to sort out with the electricity company?

If there is, we do it. Across nearly all of Alicante the distribution network is i-DE, part of the Iberdrola group, and in a handful of towns — Crevillent, Callosa de Segura, Catral, Albatera or Biar — it is the local electricity cooperative. With your CUPS number in hand, the process is ours to handle, whoever it is with.

Is there any Spanish grant for installing my Tesla charger?

The one that is live is the 15 % relief in the Spanish income tax (a maximum base of 4,000 €, so up to 600 €), provided the installation is finished before 31 December 2026 and paid by traceable means. Two caveats we would rather state plainly: the Valencian Community has no regional deduction for the charger itself, and because it is a deduction inside the resident income-tax return, it applies to Spanish tax residents — not to owners who pay the non-resident tax. Either way we hand you the itemised invoice and the certificate.

How long does the installation take?

The site survey happens within 24 to 48 hours, and in a house with the consumer unit reasonably close your Tesla charger is fitted, configured and tested in a single day, with your own car plugged in before we leave. In a communal garage, add the written notice to the community — which we prepare — and a little more time if the cable run is long.
